Stumbling into Infinity- The revolution begins.

How will the Art of Living reach out  to the vast masses of people all over the globe? This question has been lingering in out minds for sometime now. Though we all know eventually it will happen but Guruji has said that there will be a wave of spirituality that will sweep through the whole world. How the sudden wave will come and in what form?

Stumbling into Infinity, the book will play a vital role in it, I think. No other Art of Living book , in published history has garnered so much Attention as this one and its important because a large number of people like to be docile, sitting at home and reading rather than doing something adventurous ( like Yes+). This is specially true about the West. This book does not only connect deeply with all the Art of Living people but also gives a glimpse of what goes on inside with a Realised Master. People who have not done the Art of Living will also relate and appreciate it. In short it will open a window of hope for them and basically inspire them enough to do the course.

Written by Mike, who has a vast experience as any , with the organisation and Guruji, the book is like a diary of events starting from the  early 80’s . I don’t want to go into the details as I had written a Review of the book in My Blog , right in August , when the book was not released in India yet.

As far as I know , the book garnered rank #85 in the Best Seller’s list in Amazon and rank #1 in Spirituality category. It means a big deal.

Have you read the book , what are your thoughts, speak your experiences in the comments here !

Art of Living to attempt breaking Guinness record in cooking

The Art of Living Foundation (ALF), founded by spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Maharaj, would be attempting to break Guinness Book world record by cooking highest number of vegetarian food items by an organisation using community kitchens on November 2.

“We at the ALF believe just like prayer helps us connect spiritually with the Supreme being, food is also one of the mediums to connect to God,” Rishi Nityapragya of the foundation told reporters.

“Devotees of Guruji (Sri Sri Ravi Shankar) would be attempting to prepare 5000 vegetarian food items, totalling around five tonnes, using over 250 community kitchens here on November 2,” Nityapragya said.

“The present Guinness record is of 4600 food items, and we would be attempting to break it in the presence of Guruji himself who will bless the people during the event which we call Annan Brahm or annakoot,” he added.

The unique thing about this big kitchen would be that all the ingredients used for cooking shall be organic, chemical free and the preparation would be based of ayurvedic principles.

As many as 1.25 lakh people from across the country are expected to participate in the event.

These people are not professional, but common persons from all walks of life, Nityapragya said.

Nityapragya further said devotees would prepare specialities according to their regional affiliation.

The food items prepared would be distributed by Guruji as Prashad to nearly 25 thousand underprivileged children in the city, he added.

Nityapragya said that this was an occasion after nearly six years that Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was visiting Gujarat and would be staying for nearly a week.

During his visit to the state, he would also be conducting puja in Rajkot and Vadodara, besides conducting a mega course on Art of Living.

Nityapragya said that according to Guruji, India has seven unique things whose diversity and richness were unparallelled in the world which include music, dance, food, tourism, attire, Yoga and ayurveda.

Sri Sri invited to IISc

Bangalore (India), May 25: HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was the key note speaker at the centenary celebrations of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India.
“Are you feeling at home?” asked Sri Sri right at the onset. He then shared: “Our ancient scriptures have always said that true learning happens in a relaxed environment where an exchange of ideas takes place through enquiry and questioning.”
A Q&A session followed in the relaxed atmosphere of the auditorium. Excerpts:

Q. Is life governed by free-will or destiny?
Sri Sri: Life is a combination of both. There are some things which are beyond your control. That is your destiny. Then there are things where you have a choice. That is free-will. If it’s raining outside, it’s your destiny as you have no control over the weather. However, to be wet or remain dry is your free-will.
Past is your destiny, future is your free-will. And be happy in the present. A foolish person looks at the past as free-will with regret, future as destiny and is miserable in the present.
Q. What is true love?
Sri Sri: If you have a doubt, it is true love. We always doubt the positives. We doubt our capabilities. We doubt our happiness but are 100 percent sure of our depression. We doubt a person’s honesty and doubt the existence of higher power. So what is true love? Time will tell you.
Love is what we are made up of. All negative emotions are off springs of true love.
Love without wisdom makes life miserable…love with wisdom is bliss.
Q. How can we attain that wisdom?
Sri Sri: By adopting an attitude of enquiring.
Q. How can love move science?
Sri Sri: When love for science is intense, it is already moving the world.
The ultimate aim of a researcher is not to earn a livelihood. If the main aim of a researcher is to earn a livelihood, it is not a best quality research. It has to lead to a soul-search. Research is to know. The joy of knowing is itself the goal. Getting recognition is immaterial.
Q. How do you know what level of spirituality you are at?
Sri Sri: It depends on how often your buttons can be pushed. If you have no buttons to be pushed then you are very strong.
Q. Who am ‘I’? And what ‘that’ is? Can these two questions coexist?
Sri Sri: Of course. Yes. The theory of relativity has already accepted this. The observer has an impact on the observed. This was taught some thousands of years ago. But people kept it a secret. This is where we missed out.
Q. What is true happiness?
Sri Sri: Know the reason of your unhappiness. If you remove it, then there will be happiness. Meditate. Just do the Sudarshan Kriya and you will find out.
Q. Why do thoughts come and where do they originate from? Why do the thoughts rule us?
Sri Sri: Where do the thoughts come from? From the mind, or the body? Close your eyes and think about it. That itself becomes a meditation. Then you will reach the point or space within you from where all the thoughts come. And that is fantastic.
Q. Some people have positive thoughts, while some have negative thoughts. How does one control this?
Sri Sri: By keeping a stress-free mind. If you have a stress-free mind, your thoughts will be positive.
Q. How do you know all these things?
Sri Sri: Life is a journey from an angry “I don’t know” to a beautiful “I don’t know!”
Q. What is wrong and what is right?
Sri Sri: Which gives you short term pleasure and long term misery is wrong and vice-versa.
Q. Why do other people’s feelings inflict us?
Sri Sri: Because you are not a single individual but a part of a single collective consciousness.
Q. In spite of having so many great saints why is there so much of communal violence, cascades, conflicts. What is the problem with India? Are we going wrong somewhere?
Sri Sri: People who have been involved in these activities have never been in touch with any of these spiritual leaders.
Q. Why don’t you suggest government to include spiritual knowledge at the level of class 10th, at least in India?
Sri Sri: I have been telling it. Now, you all should give voice too.
Q. How to forgive and let go of things?
Sri Sri: When you see a culprit from a broader perspective, forgiveness becomes natural.
Q. What do you consider success?
Sri Sri: A smile that nobody will take away from you – that is the greatest achievement.

March Against Corruption Against Terrorism

Thousands march against corruption & terrorism

The Art of Living & WAYE mobilize youth and citizens to participate in a nationwide movement

“If our youth generation is not happy with their present and is worried about the future, then they have to begin the change themselves and get more and more people to join them,” said Dr Kiran Bedi to the thousands gathered at the Youth March against corruption and terrorism organised by the Art of Living Foundation and its youth wing, The World Alliance for Youth Empowerment (WAYE) and Co-organiser Youth For Equality (YFE).

Under the aegis of His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder, Art of Living, WAYE’s and YFE’ objective is to awaken and empower citizens, especially the youth, to effect a change and propel the youth towards nation-building. This pro-active initiative has a three-fold emphasis: Awareness, Accountability & Action.

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar sent a message for the Youth and said, “ The whole country is just looking at you for you to take leadership. The youth of India should come upfront and unite against terrorism and corruption. Let us have a prosperous and just India.”

This movement will be taken across the nation through the year with the theme: “My Country Is My Valentine”. It will leverage the RTI, Citizens Charter, e-governance and free legal aid by youth lawyers during its course of action.

Addressing the gathering, Khurshed Batliwala, Director, WAYE, said, “The greatest danger that our country today faces is that of good people doing nothing.”

Other prominent speakers included Mr Bitta (Chairman, All India Anti Terrorist Front), Mr Prahlad Kakkar (Ad Guru & CEO, Genesis), Mr. Arvind Kejriwal (Pioneering activist – RTI and Magsaysay Awardee), Mr Anirudh Bahl (Editor, Cobra Post & Writer), Prof Binod Khaitan (President, AIIMS Faculty Association) & Chaudhry Zile Singh (President, BMS).

Mr Prahlad Kakkar speaking on the occasion said, “When the young educated people of this country decide to be the change they want to see, no force on earth can stop them.”

The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) with their 160 Delhi Union extended their support to this initiative. As a mark of solidarity, the public transport system of BMS, including autorickshaws, rickshaws, tempos, buses etc, did not ply at the airport and railway station, during the march from 2pm – 5pm.

Numerous citizens, educational institutions, Residents’ welfare organisations, Social service organisations, Cultural organisations, Corporate houses, NGO’s, Youth & citizen forums including Nasscom Foundation, Navjyoti, Navdaanya, Transparency International, BMS, among other notable names participated in the March.
